Reading: We are working on character development and inferencing - supporting our inferences and answers with multiple pieces of text evidence.
Writing: We are working on supporting opinions with text evidence.
Math: We are working on decimals - understanding their value, adding and subtracting, multiplying and dividing. Then we will move back to fractions and learn how to multiply and divide them.
Social Studies: We are learning aobut the triangular trade (slave trade) and the dilemmas that the West Africans faced during that trade. Our book also has a story about Alex Haley and his book Roots.
Science: We will be having an Hour of Code event on Thursday the 14th and a STEM field trip to Davenport College on Friday the 15th.
Working with Words (WWW): All year we work with prefixes, suffixes and Greek/Latin roots. We learn how to pull apart meanings of unfamiliar words and how to construct/deconstruct bigger words.
DOL: We have added this because we needed to practice some more with capital letters, spelling, and other mechanics of writing so that our writing can better meet expectations.
